DIAMOND GIVEAWAY BY ADTF IN HONG KONG
To promote its upcoming 7th edition, January 30 to February 1, 2016, to be held in Antwerp, Belgium, the Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair (ADTF) sponsored a special evening for journalists during the recent Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.
By Cynthia Unninayar "Most diamond, gem and jewelry trade press writers and reporters do their work in the background and therefore few of them are known personally to the members of the industry,” said Sophia Silvert, business development officer of the ADTF. “But, they are the ones who keep us apprised of industry news and information!” For the journalists who attended the special event, the ADTF had a delightful surprise for them—a 0.39-carat E-color, SI1 clarity diamond. The winner, Barbara Wheat, explained, "Once we were welcomed at the event, we were each offered a glass of champagne and told that in each glass a stone was hidden, but that only one of them was a natural diamond. I was more nervous about the possibility of swallowing it accidentally than actually finding it, but I am so very excited to have won this beautiful diamond!” Held next to the HRD Antwerp booth at the show, the ADTF reception also featured a presentation by Raphaël Rubin, Executive Director of the Antwerp Diamond Bourse—a founder of the ADTF—who spoke about the diamond trade show and the strengths of Antwerp that are bundled into the fair. “The Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair adventure began seven years ago, in 2009,” explained Rubin. “Its creation met a long existing demand from the market: an exclusive diamond trade show for international diamond buyers located in Antwerp’s diamond quarter! That is why seven years ago, a few younger generation Antwerp diamond dealers launched an innovative concept, a ‘niche’ fair, dedicated solely to loose polished diamonds. The concept of the Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair (ADTF) proved an immediate and brilliant success because we established a young, efficient, friendly and very competitive fair that meets the criteria of very busy diamond buyers whose time is money. Business is concluded securely in a matter of one to two days only within the trading halls of the bourses.” The ADTF is sponsored and organized by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre.
